It has been many years since I have seen or heard from you, Katie, or Ed. I was saddened by his passing. He certainly left an indelible mark on Columbus County. It was 1972 when he approached me and asked if I would be interested in singing "The Messiah" in a choral group. I told him that I would and that was the beginning of The Southeastern Oratorio Society. As you may know, the Organization is still in existence and still performing the works of Bach, Beethoven, Mendelson and other great composers. The group is composed of about 25-30 singers who are all caucasian. In Ed's time, we had many African-Americans singing with us. Sadly, they all drifted away when Ed left. My thoughts are with you.

Katie, it is impossible to remember you, Ed, and Bethany Baptist Church without smiling. The memories are numerous and all good. Those of us that were privileged to know him are certainly richer for that honor. I am sure he will be missed by many.

Ed's booming and joyful voice is certainly being heard in Heaven. Wonder how many are in the choir he is leading there? Our loss is Heaven's gain.

Katie and Michelle and family,
I was very sorry to learn of Ed's passing. His voice and love of music were a gift that he freely shared with all who knew him and that gift will be missed here. I know it will be a joy in Heaven, though! My prayers and deepest sympathy to all of you....Lynn Davies

Mr. Miller was in some ways like a father-figure to me during my adolescence through a good part of high school - always keeping up with me and trying to make me laugh, stay positive and sing. He was my first voice teacher. . I often think about him; and I will certainly miss him...
He was such a great singer who could have easily been a great international opera singer; but instead he chose to work with church choirs, schools and economically challenged families - always taking a particular interest in the less fortunate. Unfortunately many people did not know how to take or accept his brand of unselfish generosity.
I can hear him singing. His booming voice was like no other. He was a wonderful person.
My sincerest prayers go out to Mrs. Miller, Michelle and the whole extended family and friends.

Mr Miller was always like a father to me always keeping up with me and trying to make me laugh and even singing every now and then. I miss him greatly. I have lost my best buddy but gained a Guardian angel. I can hear him singing. His voice was like no other. I know he is in that chior in Heaven and probably directing it too. My prayers go out to Mrs Miller and Michelle and family. Mr Miller wouldnt say goodbye but more like See You Latter. He was a wonderful person.

When someone mentions Ed Miller, the first thing I think of is his big Heart. I know many times when Ed helped people with out them knowing where or who this help came from. A beautiful voice, I know there is some serious singing going on in Heaven. Our thought and Prayers are with the entire family.

Dear Katie & Family,
Please know I share your time of loss. I appreciate the way Ed would spend time with me and the choir and especially the way he loved my trumpet. May God be with you during this sad time in your lives.
Sincerely,
Reverand Jim Smith

My heartfelt sympathy to Mrs. Miller and her family. Mr. Miller was my music teacher in high school, and even though that was over 20 years ago, he never forgot me. Even though I now live in Europe, I was lucky enough to see him when visiting Camden in September. I will certainly never forget him or his kindness. May he rest in peace.

We were so sorry to hear of Mr. Miller's passing and will miss him so very much...my son and I would see them at different places in town and he never forgot Gary. Gary was in an accident in 1992 and didn't look quite the same when Mr. Miller saw him after that but he still recognized my son and called him by his name and it meant so much to Gary...no more sweeter and more precious could you ever find than Mr. and Mrs. Miller...God blessed us so much with a sweet friendship with them...you will be in our prayers.
