Obituary of William Rudolph Dinkins
RIDGEWAY - Funeral service for William Rudolph Dinkins, Sr., 71, will be held Monday at 3:00 p.m. at Sawney’s Creek Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Evan Smith will officiate. The family will receive friends Sunday 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. Memorials may be made to Sawney’s Creek Baptist Church.
Mr. Dinkins died Friday, April 30, 2010. Born in Ridgeway, he was a son of Marguerite Branham Dinkins and the late William Otto Dinkins. He served in the United States Air Force and retired in 2004 from Allied Signal where he worked for 42 years. He was a member of Sawney’s Creek Baptist Church where he was a former deacon and served on several committees. He enjoyed repairing small engines.
Surviving are his wife of 25 years, Inez Cope Dinkins; mother, Marguerite Dinkins of Ridgeway; children, Lynn Bowers (Rodney) of Columbia, Rudy Dinkins (Janet) of North Augusta, Sam Kanipe (Heather) of Lexington, Amy Oswald (Robby) of Lexington, and Billie Kanipe of West Columbia; sister, LaVonne D. Dixon (Sam) of Ridgeway; brother, Lester Carlisle Dinkins (Elizabeth) of Ridgeway; 15 grandchildren, Jay, Davis, Ellis, Aimee, Derek, Alison, Bradley, Kaelin, Billy, Zach, John, Olivia, Brandi, Ashley, and Devin; and 3 great-grandchildren.
