LUGOFF – Funeral service for Joseph C. Walters, Sr., 87, will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Lugoff Church of God with burial to follow in Quaker Cemetery. Rev. Tim Shirley and Rev. Marvin Tennant will officiate. The family will receive friends Sunday 5-7 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Mr. Walters died Saturday, September 18, 2010. Bornin Bishopville, he was a son of the late Rubin Wesley and Eva Orilla Huggins Walters. He retired from SJ Chevrolet and was a member of Lugoff Church of God. Surviving are his wife of 68 years, Fannie McCaskill Walters; son, Joseph C. Walters, Jr. (TyAnn) of Lugoff; daughters, Joan Velez (Poncho) of Lancaster, Delores Morris (David) of Patrick, and Shelley Tennant (Marvin) of Lugoff; 9 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 4 great great- grandchildren. The family extends a special thank you to the staff of White Oak Manor for their wonderful care.
