Obituary of Ernest Lee Davis
LUGOFF – Memorial services for Ernest Lee Davis, Sr., 86, will be held Wednesday at 6:00 p.m., with a visitation 1hr prior at Springvale Baptist Church. Reverend Todd Horton will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Springvale Baptist Church or SC Heart Center, Columbia.
Mr. Davis passed away July 17, 2016. Born in Bishopville, SC, on November 5, 1929, he was the son of the late George C. Davis and Mary S. Holloman Davis Hooks.
Mr. Davis was a member of Springvale Baptist Church. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict and retired from DuPont after 34 years. He worked at Piggly Wiggly for over 20 years and was a bus supervisor for the West Wateree School district. He enjoyed fishing and listening to Blue Grass and Country music. He was a Boy Scout Leader for Troop 54, Little League baseball coach, RA in church and a Deacon. He was an Auxiliary Deputy Sheriff, and a member of the American Legion Post #17 and Masonic Lodge.
Surviving are his wife, Violet Davis; children, Ernest Lee “Butch” (Debbie) Davis, Jr. and Barry Rollins (Laurie) Davis; brothers, Joe (Mary) Hooks and Terry (Tammy) Hooks; grandchildren, Jamie, Amy, Luke and Cyrus Davis; 14 great-grandchildren; nephews, Tim, Dwight and Forest Thomas. He dearly loved all his nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Bruce Lee Davis; sister, Louise Tidwell.
