KERSHAW – Funeral service for George W. Barrett, 85, will be held on Thursday at 4:00 p.m. at House of Prayer with Open Arms Church with burial to follow in Refuge Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to House of Prayer with Open Arms Church, 3033 Old Georgetown Road West, Kershaw, S.C. 29067. Mr. Barrett passed away on Monday, July 25, 2016. Born in Kershaw County, he was the son of the late John and Sally Boone Barrett. He retired from DuPont and enjoyed playing cards. Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Janie B. Barrett; sons, Rev. Donnie Barrett (Judy) and Alan Barrett (Kathy); brother, Richard Barrett (Myrtle); 7 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by brothers, Albert Barrett and Sanford Barrett; and sisters, Lottie Boone, Zetta Kelly, Alma Langley, Maggie Hinson, Fleater Blanton and Margaret Davis.
