CAMDEN – Funeral Mass for John James Murphy, 69, will be celebrated on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Father Francis Travis will officiate. A Rosary will be recited Friday at 6:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, with visitation to follow till 8:00 p.m. The burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Mr. Murphy died Thursday, February 07, 2013. Born in Newport News, VA, he was the son of Nina Williamson Murphy, and the late James John Murphy. He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, and enjoyed golfing, gardening, photography and family. Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Rosemary Anderson Murphy; daughters, Shannon K. Ghrigsby of Camden, Michele T. Murphy of Camden, Christine E. Christiansen of Morrisville, NC, Marie Davis (Bert) of Lexington, Angela M. Reynolds (Matthew) of Newnan, GA; grandchildren, Aaron C. Murphy, Dustin Ghrigsby, John Ghrigsby, Shane Ghrigsby, Amber Davis, Brandon Davis, and Olivia Reynolds; brother, William Murphy (Elizabeth) of Easton, PA; sisters, Ada Murphy of Chesapeake, VA, Anne Murphy of Newport News, VA, and Mary Murphy of Hampton VA.
