LUGOFF - Service for John Joseph Romer, 67, will be private. Mr. Romer died Saturday, July 19, 2008. Born in Staten Island, N.Y., he was a son of the late John D. and Helen Elizabeth Lotz Romer. He served in the United States Marine Corp. during Vietnam. He was a Police Officer and retired from the New York City Police Department. Mr. Romer was a life time member of the National Rifle Association and a member of the Elks lodge and American Legion. Surviving are his wife of 30 years, Agnes Terry Romer; children, Michael (Charlene) Romer of Calif., John J. Romer Jr. of N.J., Nancy Romer of Maryland, and Bill (Tracy) Lewis of Lugoff; brothers, James (Roberta) Romer of Sevierville, Tenn., William (Deborah) Romer of Flemmington, N.J., Joe (Gloria) Romer of Elgin, and Richard (Linda) Romer of Staten Island, N.Y.; sisters, Ann Marie Sullivan of Calif., Marguerite (Steven) Koopman of Warwick, N.Y., Barbara (Anthony) Baldassano of Calif., and Mary Ellen (Richard) Hosmer of Fla.; and grandchildren, Josh and Conner Romer, Raquel, Olivia, and Bianca Romer, and Alan Lewis.
