Columbia – A time of gathering to celebrate the life Martha Darlene Brooks, 66, will be held on Sunday from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. Mrs. Brooks, wife of the late Bob Brooks, died on Thursday, September 8, 2016. Born in Florence, Ala., she was the daughter of the late Albert Nance and Aurelia Sledge Nance Douglas. She enjoyed gardening and sewing. Surviving are her sons, Danny Meckel and Harold Meckel (Penny); sisters, Charlotte Staggs, Jewell Kirk, Barbara Klitzsch, Judy Parker and Cora Brush; grandchildren, Lois Michelle McCutcheon, Brittany Nicole Hughes, Jesse Meckel, Wyatt Meckel, Taryn Meckel, and Justin Meckel; and great-granddaughter, Samantha McCutcheon. She was predeceased by a daughter, Debra Williamson.
