ELGIN – Services for Edward F. “Sharkey” Zilinskas, 82, formerly of Cambridge, N.Y., will be private. Mr. Zilinskas died Saturday, February 9, 2013. Born in New Haven, Conn., he was the son of the late Charles F. and Catherine Elizabeth Unavitch Zilinskas. He served in the United States Navy and was a care taker for the Historic District in Cambridge, N.Y. He was a member of the American Legion. Mr. Zilinskas was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and thoroughbred racing. He was an avid bowler and formerly raced stock cars. He was active in the Democratic Party and spent his winters vacationing in the South. Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Elizabeth J. Bogardus Zilinskas; daughter, Jayne M. Butkas (Tony) of Elgin; son, Bernard J. Zilinskas (Patti) of Hoosick Falls, N.Y.; grandchildren, Rozalynd Cawood, Makenzie Aiello, Joshua Zilinskas and Jonathan Zilinskas; and 6 great-grandchildren. Also survived by two nephews, Phillip Dwyer and Robert Dwyer.
