CAMDEN – Funeral services for Ruth Roach Vandiver, 89, will be held Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at Powers Funeral Home, with burial to follow in Lugoff First Baptist Church Cemetery. Reverend Michael Leonhardt, Pastor at St. John’s United Methodist Church, will officiate. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 9:30-10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice. Mrs. Vandiver passed away November 28, 2016. Born in Spartanburg County, SC, on October 19, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Roach and Ada Johnson Roach. Mrs. Vandiver was a member of First Baptist Church of Powdersville, S.C. prior to moving to Camden in 2011. She enjoyed gardening and watching the Atlanta Braves. Surviving are children, Jane (Barry) Julian of Lugoff and Joan (Clarence) Poole of Summerfield, FL; grandchildren, Eric (Kristy) Julian and Scott (Beth) Poole, Ph.D. She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd William Vandiver, who passed away in 1979; sisters, Eva Roach and Mary Roper; brothers, Guy Roach, Bubba Roach, J.V. Roach, and Roy Roach, Sr.
