Obituary of Bill L. Fogleman

COLUMBIA – Funeral service for Bill Llewellyn. Fogleman, 88, will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Kilbourne Park Baptist Church with a private burial to follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Thursday 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to PAALS, 221 N. Grampian Hills Rd., Columbia, SC 29223. Mr. Fogleman, husband of the late Margaret Rollins Fogleman, passed away on Monday, February 21, 2017. Born in Winston Salem, N.C, he was the son of the late Edward Bryan and Sarah Elizabeth Llewellyn Fogleman. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. He, Maggie and their children lived in Greenville, SC and there they originally worked together in real estate for the Furman Co. and later founded Preferred Properties. Equal to his love of real estate was his love of family, duplicate bridge, the beach, and Carolina football. All who knew Bill recognized him immediately as a Gamecock fan because his car flags flew not just on game day but every day. On Christmas mornings “Pa Pa” was always just as excited to get up really early with his kids and later his grandkids. He particularly enjoyed the beach and spent most of his early retirement at Isle of Palms, fishing and playing golf. Later in life he achieved the level of Silver Life Master in duplicate bridge and played his first at Columbia Bridge Club and then daily online until his death. He also really enjoyed gardening, dancing, and especially spending time with his best friend Elrae Poucher. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the nursing team at Providence Hospital CICUS 4th floor. Surviving are his daughters, Llew Fogleman Jenkins (John) of Decorah, IA, and Fran Fogleman McCaskill (David) of Columbia; step-daughter, Brenda Cantrell of Cheraw; daughter-in-law, Judy Langley of Greenville, S.C.; grandchildren, Paula Teal (Wayne), Shane Langley, Gena Goins (Ricky), Ashley McCaskill, MaryBeth McCaskill, Jenninson Jenkins, and John Will Jenkins; and 5 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a step-son, Mike Langley; brothers, Dennis Fogleman and Bryan Fogleman; sister, Betty Miscally; and grandson, Chuck Phillips.
