BISHOPVILLE – Funeral service for William Boyd Simon, Sr., 84, will be held on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff, with burial to follow in Red Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Homer Hinson and the Rev. Gene Stokes will officiate. The family will receive friends Sunday 1:30-3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Red Hill Baptist Church, 4695 Red Hill Road, Camden, SC 29020. Mr. Simon, husband of the late Athalea King Simon passed away on Wednesday, March 01, 2017. Born in Kansas City, Ks., he was the son of the late Benjamin Franklin and Annabell Garrett Simon. He retired from DuPont and was a member of Red Hill Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, cutting grass, cooking and dancing. Surviving are his son, Billy Simon (Liz) of Lugoff; daughters, Belinda Hayes of Camden, Jenny Simon of Bishopville, and Sonya Holladay (James) of Sumter; stepdaughter, Patricia Stokes (Gene) of Camden; sister, Dixie Ann Wilson of Camden; 13 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 7 great great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Barbara Amerson Simon; brother, Benny Simon; and grandson, Ashley Grantham.
