CASSATT- Rendel Angus Ray, 76 passed away suddenly Friday, April 14, 2017 at his home. Born in Cassatt, he was a son of the late Angus and Annie Kate Hall Ray. Mr. Ray, husband of the late Hazel Ray, was a member of Beaverdam Baptist Church. He retired from Dupont after 35 years of service as a master drive specialist. He was a charter member of the Mid Carolina Field Trial Club, and enjoyed horses, training bird dogs, and restoring old tractors. Surviving are his daughters, Kimberly Hyatt (Kevin Barrett) of Memphis, TN, Renda Hodge (Lester) of Cassatt; grandchildren, Jessi Hyatt of TX, Becky Hyatt of TX, Amy Rushing (Kip) of Patrick, Arin Hill (Jason) of Camden, Levi Sherman (Brandy) of Beech Island, Michael Hodge of Cassatt; brothers, Charles Ray of Bethune, Benny Ray (Vivian) of Lake Wateree, Roger Ray; sisters, Elaine Robertson (Bruce) of Cassatt, Debbie Blackwell (Jim) of Bethune; and 7 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife; brother, David Ray; and sisters, Goldie Mosley and Susan Moseley. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Beaverdam Baptist Church, with burial to follow in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Mid Carolina Field Trial Club of Camden or a charity of one’s choice.
