LUGOFF – Funeral service for Eloise Parker Gettys “Cooter” Watson, 83, will be held on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Rowan Presbyterian Church with burial to follow in Gettys Cemetery. The Rev. Steve Jordan will officiate. The family will receive friends Friday 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Rowan Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Watson, wife of the late Haile Otto “Pete” Watson, passed away on Monday, April 24, 2017. Born in Camden, she was the daughter of the late John Lathan and Eloise Parker Gettys. A graduate of Camden High School, she received her Bachelors of Science Degree from Queens College in Charlotte, N.C. She taught in the Kershaw County School Systems. In the early sixties, she and her husband built and opened Green Hills Golf Course. Surviving are her son, Butch Watson (Lynda) of Lugoff; daughters, Mary “Boo” Hallman (Rev. John) of Lugoff, Sarah Oliver (Dr. Richard) of Lugoff, and Lisa Edwards (Mark) of Lugoff; 13 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter, Abby Chestnut. The family extends a special thanks to Pinedale Residential Center of Camden, KershawHealth, and Kershaw Health Hospice for their loving care.
