ELGIN- Carl Sylvester Bailey, Jr., 72, passed away Sunday, May 7, 2017. Born in Portland, ME, he was a son of Edna Conley Bailey and the late Carl S. Bailey, Sr. Mr. Bailey was a handyman who enjoyed fixing everything, crossword puzzles, reading, and spending time with his grandchildren. Surviving are his wife, Marie Annette Bailey; children, David Vanvliet (Dawn), Scott Vanvliet (Michelle), Toby Vanvliet, Chris Bailey, and other children in ME; several brothers and sisters; grandchildren, Tyler, Logan, and numerous other grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and another grandchild, Karley, on the way; and numerous other relatives. He was predeceased by 3 brothers and a sister. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 3:30 p.m. at 1000 Elgin Estates Dr, Elgin, S.C. 29045.
