Bethune – Funeral services for Glenn L. Martin, 71, will be held Friday at 1:00 p.m. at Timrod Baptist Church, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. Jeremy Ussary will officiate. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Timrod Baptist Church or a Multiple Sclerosis Foundation. Mr. Martin, husband of the late Betty G. Martin, passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2017. Born in Bethune, he was a son of the late Delmare McLaughlin and Julia Martin Davis. Mr. Martin served in the U.S. Army as a military police and retired as a lieutenant with the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Department. He was a recipient of the State of S.C. Purple Heart, National Sheriff’s Association Medal of Valor, S.C. Sheriff’s Association Medal of Valor, and the American Police Hall of Fame. Mr. Martin was a member of Timrod Baptist Church. Surviving are his daughters, Susan Martin Sullivan (Tony) of Bethune, Patricia Martin Crawford (Phil) of Bethune; brothers, Hiram Pratt, Sydney Pratt, Baxter Pratt, Robert Pratt; sisters, Cathy Johnson, Janet Rolland; and grandchildren, Olivia Alexis Martin, Caleb Glenn Martin, Chloe Rae Crawford, Rebecca Crawford, Ashton Sullivan, and Breanna Sullivan.
