Obituary of Sallie Bell Murphy Hagins

CAMDEN – A service to celebrate the life of Sallie Bell Murphy Hagins, 78, will be held on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Sweet Home Baptist Church with burial to follow in Cedar Cemetery. The Rev. Torress F. Perkins will officiate. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. Mrs. Hagins, wife of the late Johnny Hagins, passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2017. Born in Camden, she was the daughter of the late John Henry and Louise Cauthen Murphy. She was a member of Sweet Home Baptist Church where she was a deaconess, served on the missionary society, and sang in the choir. Surviving are her daughter, Mary Alice “Squeaky” Truesdale (Johnnie Lewis) of Cassatt; son, Johnny White (Lillian) of Charlotte, N.C.; sister, Mary Fairfax of Ridgewood, N.J.; grandchildren, Kedrick Barnes (Lacy Barnes), Dana Truesdale and Joann Smith; and 5 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a sister, Mabell Robinson; and brothers, John Henry Murphy, Jr., David Murphy and George Curtis Murphy.
