Obituary of Louise Allen
CAMDEN, SOUTH CAROLINA – Funeral services for Louise Nelson Allen, 81, will be held Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. at New Life Christian Outreach in Lugoff, SC with burial to follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The Rev. Richard Cameron and the Rev. Derrick Proctor will officiate. The family will receive friends Friday, November 3, 2017 from 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, 832 Ridgeway RD, Lugoff, SC 29078. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to KershawHealth Oncology, 1315 Roberts ST, Camden, SC 29020 or New Life Christian Outreach, 411 US-601, Lugoff, SC 29078.
Mrs. Allen passed away Thursday, October 26, 2017. Born in Camden, SC, she was a daughter of the late James and Rosa Richardson Nelson. Mrs. Allen was a member of New Life Christian Outreach, where she served as a greeter. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, sewing, cooking, bowling, reading; and praise and worship music. She loved watching tennis, golf and movies. She had a great love for her family and church. One of the greatest joys in her life was living at 247 Governor Street where all family was welcomed.
Mrs. Allen was proud to say that she graduated from St. Matthew High School in Camden SC! She retired from Bogen Communication / Lea Seigler as a quality control inspector after 35 years.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 63 years, Edward R. Allen; daughters, Deborah (Elaine) Allen of Ellicott City, MD, and Sabrina Allen of Atlanta, GA; sisters, Alberta Scott of Plainfield, NJ., Janie (Rick) Nelson of Plainfield, NJ., and Gertrude Nelson of Greenville, SC; brothers, Richard Nelson of Somerset, NJ., and Henry “Jock” Nelson (Vernell) of Camden, SC. There were no better friends than her sisters and brothers-in-law, Rev. Walter Allen, Jr., Hattie Lewis, Robert Allen, Jessie Hardy, Jimmie Allen, and Eva Allen. She was predeceased by siblings, Mary Robinson, James Nelson, Robert Nelson, Mike Nelson, Sarah Henderson, Freda Nelson, Hattie Steward, Sofie Austin, Isaac Nelson, George Nelson, Johnny (Pee Wee) Nelson, and Rosa (Manda) Harden.
