Obituary of Donnie McElveen

LUGOFF – A service to celebrate the life of Donald Ingram “Donnie” McElveen, Jr., 54, will be held on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. at Spears Creek Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. Greg Sweet will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to Spears Creek Baptist Church. Mr. McElveen passed away at home surrounded by his family on Saturday, November 25, 2017. Born in Kingstree, he was the son of Vivian Gause Cooper and the late Donald I. McElveen Sr. He was a graduate of Lugoff-Elgin High School and owned and operated McElveen Lawn Care. He was a Master Mason and a member of the Lugoff Lodge. Donnie played American Legion Baseball and spent many years coaching baseball for the Kershaw County Recreation Department and travel ball. He loved sports and was an avid NASCAR fan. Surviving are his wife of 28 years, Lee Marie Serralta McElveen; sons, Joseph Donald McElveen and Christopher Lee McElveen; mother, Vivian Cooper; brother, Steve McElveen (Jennifer); step-brothers, Darron Cooper (Sheri) and Dwayne Cooper (Charity); mother-in-law, Rosa Ives Serralta; brother-in-law, Joey Serralta; nieces and nephews, Seth McElveen, Owen McElveen, Tyler McElveen, Joseph Serralta, Nikolas Serralta, Vivienne Serralta, Bobby Cooper, Courtney Cooper, Savannah Cooper and Merah Cooper. He was predeceased by his step-dad whom he loved as a dad, James E. Cooper; and father-in-law, Jose Serralta.
