CAMDEN – Funeral services Annette M. Gary, 78, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at Mt. Bethel Baptist Church in Rembert, with burial to follow in the church Cemetery. Rev. Freddie Thomas will officiate. Mrs. Gary passed away November 28, 2017. Born in Sumter County, SC, on September 24, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Hollie Mathis and Rosa Jenkins Mathis. She was a member of Mt. Bethel Baptist Church where she was a singer in the gospel choir, an usher and a missionary. She also was a founder and member of the church’s F.L. Thomas singing group. Surviving are her children, Elijah (Mary Frances) Gary, Jr., Holley (Celia) Gary and Samuel (Sylvia) Gary; 15 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; sisters, Lee Nora (Thomas) Jenkins and Evangelist Dorothy (Elder Percell) Moore; step-sister, Bertha McCoy; sisters-in-law, Jessie Mae Mathis, Liberty Mathis, Alean Chisolm, Carrie McKinnon, Francina Moore, and Rosalee Bradshaw; special niece, Annie Mae Mathis and a host of other nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Elijah Gary, Sr.; children, Rosa Gary, Albert Gary and Michael Gary; siblings, Fannie Brisbon, Annie Wactor, Isiah Mathis, James Henry Mathis, Mary Emma Carter, Mazzie Mathis, Frances Demery, Joe Lewis Mathis and Lee Grant Mathis.
