CAMDEN- Funeral services for Melvin Steven “Bubba” Simpson, Sr., 57, will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Powers Funeral Home, with burial to follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hope Lodge, Charleston, S.C. Mr. Simpson passed away December 11, 2017. Born in Camden, he was a son of Annette Twitty Simpson and the late Malvin Carson Simpson. Mr. Simpson retired from the U.S. Army as a SFC after 20 years of service. He was a member of the AFM Masonic Lodge and the Shriners. Surviving are his son, Melvin Steven Simpson, Jr. (Kellie) of Camden; sister, Shelby Atkinson (Carlton) of Timmonsville; brother, Michael Lee Simpson of Camden; and a grandson, Ryan Steven Simpson. He was predeceased by a son, Ryan Wyatt Simpson.
