LUGOFF – Funeral service for Joan Patricia Smith Geiger, 82, will be held on Tuesday at 12:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff, with burial to follow in Elmwood Cemetery and Gardens in Columbia. The family will receive friends Monday 4-6 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. The family will also be receiving friends at the home of her son, Richard Geiger, at 2006 Juniper Rd, Lugoff, S.C. 29078. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or KershawHealth Hospice. Mrs. Geiger, wife of the late Robert L. Geiger Sr., passed away at home on Friday, December 29, 2017. Born in White Rock, she was the daughter of the late Herbert Wellington and Annie Marcile Richardson Smith. She retired from Camden High School where she was the school secretary. Mrs. Geiger was a member of Rowan Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir and was a lifetime member of the Women of the Church. She was also a member of the Business and Professional Women, Lugoff Mothers Club and the Dogwood Garden Club. She enjoyed gardening and cooking. Mrs. Geiger loved her family dearly and their annual family trip to Folly Beach. She was an avid Clemson fan. Surviving are her daughter, Marcia Rose Geiger of Lugoff; son, Charles Richard Geiger Sr. (Sherry) of Lugoff; daughter-in-law, Becky Geiger of Fayetteville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Charles Richard Geiger Jr., Joanna Patricia Geiger, Lauren Geiger Honea (Garrett), William Derrick Geiger (Jessica), Robert L. “Bobby” Geiger III; and great-grandchildren, Joseph Dylan Geiger, Olivia Annalisa Roberts, Ella Rose Geiger, Claire Elisabeth Geiger and Bonnie Kate Honea. She was predeceased by a son, Robert. L. Geiger Jr.; and siblings, Annie Ruth Montjoy, Herbert W. Smith Jr., Charles R. Smith, Francis M. Smith, James Edward Smith and Margie Dell Smith.
