CAMDEN – Helen C. Ray, 78, passed away January 1, 2018. Born in Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Clinton L. Chavis and Louise Tanner Chavis Parry. Ms. Ray enjoyed gardening, sewing, and cooking. Surviving are her children, Robert Ray (Cindy) of Gloucester, VA, Ellen Branham (Clayton) of Camden, Diane Benton (Lin) of Camden; siblings, Carolyn Phillips of West Columbia, Joe Chavis (Sandy) of Camden; 8 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, David Andrew Ray; and siblings, Joan Connell, Audrey Miller and Leon Chavis. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
