Cliff, I always felt safe with you. You were my strength. You were faithful, loyal and supportive of things important to me. You loved me and I knew it. You loved the Lord and you tried to live according to His Word. I could not have had a better husband. On September 29, 1990, I promised to love you, until death due us part. Since October 13, 2008, I have learned that physical death only takes away a part of you. The essence of our love and life together remains with me. Cliff Sample, you were the center of my joy, and I love you, still.

To the memory of my beloved husband, Cliff Sample. My heart is as broken today as it was on October 13, 2008. Thoughts of you have been with me every day of this past year. I did not realize that missing you could be this painful. If during our life time God gives everyone a "portion of joy", then you were my portion for 18 years. The best years of my adult life were the years I was married to you, and the memories of our life together will bring smiles to my face for as long as I live. Your laugh made me laugh; your smile brightened any room you were in. Your adventurous spirit encouraged me to follow you anywhere, first to Port St. Lucie and then here to Lugoff.

Dear Valerie & Family,
Sorry to hear of your loss. I feel as though I knew your Dad; because of the way you always talked about him. I knew you were the apple of his eye. All Daddies’ girls are special and I imagine that’s what makes it so hard for you in dealing with the lost. My deepest sympathy to the family… love and prayers.

Sample, when your dad died my heart went out to you because I know how it feels to lose a parent. Both my parents are gone; so I know the pain you felt/still feel. When I think of your father, I'm reminded of the time we were at his house in the basement dancing; me, you and him. Boy could he cut a rug. smile. I had him going down to the ground. We had such a good time; we were laughing so hard because he said he could do whatever I did. He did try! I'm also reminded of how we both would say goodbye to you on the phone: OKIE DOKE. You would say, what did you say, I know you didn't just say okie doke. One time me, you and your dad were on the phone together and when we got ready to hang up, we both said okie doke at the same time and you had a fit. smile. I hope these two memories will make you smile as I am doing right now. He was the nicest man! He's gone, but his spirit will live in your heart forever. Love, Flemmings

One memory that comes to mind is when you guys live at 129 N. 52 St. My mom walk and I rode my brand new bike to the house. I left the bike on the porch and someone stole it! I was between 8 and 10 years old and was sooooo hurt, I cried hard. Your dad went through the neighborhood looking for my bike. He never found it and he felt bad about that. He was very comforting to me at that moment. To you Sample (Val), after all we been paling around (smile) over the last 20 something years. Dear Mrs. Shirley and Family:
How bittersweet is the passing of Mr. Clifton. I know you all will miss him tremendously, yet what a celebration is taking place in Heaven as God the Father welcomed him home - on his birthday! Please know all of you are in my thoughts and prayers, now and in the days ahead. I will miss seeing his welcoming smile.

He was a loving brother who protected his sisters and brothers until the end by shielding us from his health status. He also loved his wife and children very much.
We will miss him but God knows best.

What a pleasure it is to have known Clifton. What a wonderful man and legacy. Clifton is with our Father, basking in His Holy presence...what a joy and comfort.
This is a time of great sorrow for your family; rest in the comfort of the Holy Spirit and His Word that "When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: "Death has been swallowed up in victory."
1 Corin. 15:24
Our Prayers or with you.

Shirley, "And He will wipe your tears away". We were saddened to hear of Cliff's passing. He was a man of all men and will be greatly missed. We look up to both of you as examples of Christ and His love. Cliff carried himself with grace, wisdom and godliness. May God comfort and keep you. Our hearts are heavy as we share this burden with you.

Our hearts are broken as we think of our dear brother and all that he has meant to the Henry Family. It is difficult to imagine our reunions and family functions without his physical presence. However, we will continue to carry his gentle spirit with us, especially when we gather as a family.
We are so thankful to God for giving us the gift of Cliff's life for eighteen wonderful years.
Praise God from whom all blessings flow!

There are no words that can express the love I have for you. Your patience, love, and wisdom in all things will be missed. I will miss our talks on the matters close to the heart. I will miss our discussions of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Someday I plan to join you. Untill then, I will remember you fondly. Thanking God for the joy you have given me. Dad you are truly a man I can say I admire and that I love. You will be missed but not forgotten.
