Obituary of Eugene C. Griggs
LUGOFF – Graveside service for Eugene Carl Griggs, 95, will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in Fort Jackson National Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. Mr. Griggs, husband of the late Sarah Frances Jackson Griggs, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Sunday, January 28, 2018. Born in Patrick, he was the son of the late Willie Franklin and Linnie Polson Griggs. He served in the United States Army during WWII and retired from Seaboard Railroad. He was a faithful follower of Christ who loved and cherished his family dearly.
Surviving are his daughters, Peggy Griggs Boykin of Camden, Marilyn Griggs Jenkins (Robert) of Camden; Karen Griggs Garrett (Glenn) of Irmo, Constance Griggs Sessions of Aiken and Meltha Olivia Griggs of Lugoff; grandchildren, Alfred Brevard Boykin III, Harriet B. Boykin-Garity, Edward M. Boykin, R. Austin Jenkins Jr., Caroline Jenkins McInnis, Christopher P. Sessions, Erin Olivia Fickling, and Margaret Frances Carr; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by brothers, Robert L. Griggs, Hazel Griggs, and James H. Griggs; and son-in-law, Dr. Alfred B. Boykin, Jr.
