Obituary of Harry C. Rogers

CAMDEN – A funeral service will be held Saturday, March 10, at 1:00 pm at Lyttleton St. United Methodist Church in Camden, with burial to follow in Quaker Cemetery. A reception will be held at the church following the burial. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Camden Community Ministries or Lyttleton St. United Methodist Church. Mr. Rogers passed away Sunday, March 4, after a brief illness. He was 91. Mr. Rogers was born near Iola, Kansas, in 1926. He served as an Officer in the U.S. Merchant Marine during the final year of WWII, then completed his bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering at the University of Kansas. He worked for DuPont for nearly 30 years. He married Nancy Williams Rogers in 1956. They were married 61 years and raised four children. Mr. Rogers enjoyed woodworking, gardening, reading, square-dancing and birdwatching. He volunteered many hours with Lyttleton St. United Methodist Church and Camden Community Ministries. Mr. Rogers is survived by his wife; son, Randolph Roddenberry, Jr., of Savannah, GA; daughters, Louise Roddenberry Lund of Hilton Head, Joyce Rogers of Camden, Marguerite Rogers of Portland, OR; 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
