REMBERT – A celebration of life service for George Edward Watkins, Sr., 82, will be held Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Community Bible Church. The Rev. Jerry Peacock and the Rev. Jerry Gardner will officiate. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 9-10 a.m. at the church. Mr. Watkins passed away Thursday, March 8, 2018. Born in Camden, he was a son of the late Robert Leon and Tincy Viola Steen Watkins. Mr. Watkins served in the Army National Guard for 42 years. He enjoyed his family, loved the military, coon hunting, and NASCAR (Go #9) Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Mary Lou Johnson Watkins; sons, Timothy Watkins, Sr. (JoAnn) of Rembert, George “Joey” Watkins, Jr. (Rebecca) of Rembert, Tony Watkins of Camden; daughters, Debbie Holland (Mike) of Bishopville, Donna Poplin (Ric) of Myrtle Beach; brother, Rev. Marion Watkins (Cynthia) of Dazell; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by siblings, Sammy Watkins, Geneva Ward, Harvey Watkins, and Billy Watkins.
