CAMDEN – A service to celebrate the life of James Doug King, 87, will be held Saturday at 12:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff, with burial to follow in Quaker Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association. Mr. King, husband of the late Mary Alice Trimnal King, passed away at home surrounded by family on Tuesday, April 10, 2018. Born in Lee County, he was the son of the late Major King and Christine Barfield DuBose. He retired from DuPont where he worked for 34 years. He enjoyed bird hunting, fishing, gardening, and cooking. Surviving are his children, James Greer “Jimmy” King of Camden, Fred Michael “Mike” King of Lebanon Community, Ridgeville, S.C., and Rose Mary King Powers (Henry) of Lugoff; grandchildren, Doug King (Kim), Whit King (Micah), Rodney Powers (Bridgett), Robbie Powers (Teresa), Sherri Williams (Ryan), Susanne Boyd (Scooter Davis), David King (Abbie), Greer King, Kenny King (Bonnie) and Brittany Blythe (Josh); 22 great-grandchildren; and companion, Katherine Hudson. He was predeceased by a son, John Douglas King.
