ELGIN – A funeral service for Charlotte Edith Owens, 84, will be held at 4pm on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at Sawney’s Creek Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Wednesday at Powers Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be to the Thiel-Meyer Pet Adoption Center. Mrs. Owens passed away on Sunday, May 13, 2018. Born in Demorest, GA, she was the daughter of the late Harvey Arlin Stamey and Annie Mae Black Stamey. Surviving are her children, Sharon D. Greene; Dolores Greene Wicker (Fred), Michelle Greene Johnson (Kelly), Sheila Greene Watts (Dean) and Deidra L. Owens; 8 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 1 great great-grandchild; sister, Patsy Lovell (Lamar). She was predeceased by her husband, Curtis R. “Bill” Owens; brothers, Thomas Harvey Stamey and Buford Burnett Stamey; step-father, William Carl Stamey.
