ELGIN – A Funeral service for Thomas “Tom” E. Ewers, 67, will be held on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Concord Baptist Church, with burial to follow at Fort Jackson National Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. Mr. Ewers passed away on Friday, May 18, 2018. Born in Lynchburg, VA, he was the son of the late Percy Douglas Ewers and Annie Ruth McFall Ewers. Tom served in the U.S. Navy and retired as a Chief E.T. Instructor. He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed watching Duke University. He loved his family more than life itself and will be dearly missed. Surviving is his wife, Margaret E. Ewers; children, James (Brandy) Ewers, Matthew (Holly) Ewers and Abigale (Larry) Garrett; grandchildren, Kaitlyn (Matthew) Jones, Danielle Callihan, Keara Ewers, Michael Ewers, Aiden Ewers, Nicholas Ewers, Karyn Rucker, Josiah Garrett, Samantha Garrett, Peter Beltinck and Jaymee Beltinck; great-granddaughter, Stella Mae Phillips; sisters, Martha Ann Cadd and Janet (David) Johnson.
