LUGOFF – A service to celebrate the life of David Gregg Courtney, 55, will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Powers Funeral Home, with burial to follow in Broad Swamp Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery in Kingstree. The Family will receive friends Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Broad Swamp Women’s Ministry, c/o Rennie Bingham, 941 Broad Swamp Rd, Kingstree, SC 29556. Mr. Courtney passed away at home surrounded by family on Sunday, June 17, 2018. Born in Chula Vista, Ca., he was the son of Rebecca Faye Bingham Courtney and the late Robert Eugene Courtney. David was a successful local businessman who was very active in his community and supportive of law enforcement. He loved farming and his grandchildren. Surviving are his wife, Debra Ann Zapczynski Courtney; children, Michael Corbin, Brian Corbin (Colleen), Leslie Courtney, Randall Corbin (Ali), Lori Corbin-Roberts (Jamie), and Tara Lawver (William); mother, Rebecca “Faye” Courtney; sister, Robin Hickman (Todd) and Kelly Flynn (David); and grandchildren, Haydyn, Randall, Kaydynce, Marly, Logan, Brody, Emma, Jack and Callen. He was predeceased by a sister, Patricia Courtney.
