LUGOFF – A funeral service for Idell Ray, 79, will be held on Friday at 1:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Springvale Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Evangelist Edna Bell will officiate. Mrs. Ray entered into rest on Monday, August 27, 2018. Born on September 25, 1938 in Lugoff, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Nathaniel “Than” and Sarah Louise Humphries. She worked for over 30 years at Blaney Elementary School as the lunchroom manager. She was many children’s lunch lady and loved all the children she served over the years. Mrs. Ray is survived by her devoted husband, David Ray. She was a loving mother to Jackie Powell (Robert) of Lugoff and Maryann De Long (Nathan) of Cassatt. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Briana Logan (Cierra), Jessica Cooper (Scott), Robert Powell, Jr., Amy Powell (Matt), Erin Powell (Travis); great-grandchildren, Trevor Jackson (Francesca), Wesley Jackson, Blake De Long, James Preston, Shayne Cooper, Ali Cooper, Damon Sumner, Freya Sumner, Willow Pierson; great great-grandchildren, Ben Ecker and Dawson Jackson; brother, Than Humphries (Margie); sister, Loretta Humphries; 5 nieces and 7 nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Clinton Humphries.
