LUGOFF - A memorial service for Arthur L. Olson, 87, will be held Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at Lugoff First Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. Greg Sweet will officiate. The Richard Chase Gems of Wisdom Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2:00–3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to Lugoff First Baptist Church. Mr. Olson died Thursday, December 18, 2008. Born in Jamestown, N.Y., he was the son of the late William and Bernice Smith Olson. Mr. Olson and his wife owned and operated a family dairy farm for 48 years in Ashville, N.Y. He drove a school bus for 29 years for Southeastern High School in Lakewood, N.Y. and was the leader of the Men’s Brotherhood for the Ashville United Methodist Church in Ashville, N.Y. Mr. Olson and his wife moved to Lugoff in 2002 and are devoted members of Lugoff First Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Joicey M. Olson; sons, David Olson of LaLuz, N.M., and Daniel (Shirley) Olson of Dewittville, N.Y.; daughters, Crystal Olson of Capitola, Calif., and Cynthia Olson of Columbia, S.C.; sisters, Mary (George) Barns, Blanche (Harold) Tracey, and Irene Berg; grandchildren, Shawn Olson, Kimberly Bowie, Ryan Moore and Kyle Moore; a great-grandchild; and several step-grandchildren. He was predeceased by brothers, George Olson, Lawrence Olson, and Clarence Olson.
