LUGOFF, S.C. - Services for Violet Rose Hathaway, 82, will be held Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at 12:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff, S.C. Rev. Dr. Mark Bredholt will officiate. The family will receive friends on Tuesday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association Palmetto Chapter, P.O. Box 7044, Columbia, S.C. 29202 or the Muscular Dystrophy Association, 2700 Middleburg Drive, Columbia, S.C. 29204 or the Lutheran Hospice, 1505 Blanding Street, Columbia, S.C. 29201. Mrs. Hathaway, formerly of Columbus, Ohio, died Sunday, December 21, 2008. Born in Columbus, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Paul W. Harble and Ruth Brown Harble. “Rosie” was a wife and mother, her life long attention was given to her husband and sons. Her happy attitude and ready smile prevailed even through the terrible Alzheimer’s disease that she suffered from for many years. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Robert S. Hathaway; sons, Thomas S. Hathaway and Mark A. Hathaway, both of Lugoff, S.C.; one grandson; and two great-grandsons all of South Carolina. She was predeceased by a son, R. Michael Hathaway. The family would like to thank Lutheran Hospice for their kind, thoughtful and loving care over the past year.
