Obituary of Louise M Brown

ELGIN - Funeral service for Louise Martin Brown, 81, will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Highway Pentecostal Holiness Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Paul Miles and Rev. George Cashwell will officiate. The family will receive friends Friday 5-7 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. Memorials may be made to Highway Pentecostal Holiness Church Adult Sunday School Class. Mrs. Brown, wife of the late Lester E. Brown, died Wednesday, December 24, 2008. Born in Columbia, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Whiteman and Ollie Beatrice Higgins Martin. She retired from Dentsville High School where she worked in the cafeteria. She was a member of Highway Pentecostal Holiness Church where she was involved in the Women’s Ministry. Mrs. Brown enjoyed camping in Maggie Valley, N.C., traveling with Christian Tours, working in her flower garden, and making arts and crafts. Surviving are her daughters, Jeanette (Jim) Harris of Elgin, and Dianne (Tim) Rabon of Camden; brothers, Floyd (Jean) Martin, Bill (Cheryl) Martin, and White (Joyce) Martin; sister, Doris Barton; grandchildren, Gregg Davis, Amanda Cook, Scott Davis, and Jamie Harris; great-grandchildren, Trent Davis, Gracen Harris, Grier Harris, Abigail Cook, and Alex Clack; numerous nieces and nephews of which all of them had a special place in her heart. She was predeceased by brother, Ted Martin; and sister, Beulah Brazell, and Edna Martin.
