Maggie died at home after a three battle with cancers She died with her beloved cat Rainy at her feet where she had sat on a nearly constant vigil for three days.
Maggie wanted to die at home with her pets nearby. She wanted to be without pain, which we tried our best to provide. The Kershaw County Hospice was wonderful, and without their help, Maggie's last wishes could not have been granted.
She was a courageous, sometimes stubborn lady who was strong enough up until the day before her death to walk herself to the toilet and pull herself up out of bed with the help of a rope around the bedpost that sister Helen devised.
Her pets will go to live with Helen and Peanut and with Bill and Betty. I will settle for a delightful cat sculpture Maggie had in her house for years.
I will miss her terribly but am so grateful that she is now truly without pain,.
