LUGOFF - Funeral service for Edna Joan Byford, 65, will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home with burial to follow in Southland Memorial Gardens, West Columbia. Rev. Russell McDonald will officiate. The family will receive friends Saturday 1:00 -2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, 647 Lachicotte Road, Lugoff, S.C. 29078 or a children’s program of one’s choice. Mrs. Byford, wife of the late Thomas Byford, died Wednesday, February 18, 2009. Born in Columbia, she was a daughter of the late Carl and Nina Mae McElhannon Kinsey. She was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Camden. She enjoyed reading, fishing, sewing and embroidery. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Billy Wade and Patricia Slaughter of Lugoff; daughters and sons-in-law, Donna Lynn and Phil Cobb of Gilbert, Shannon Nicole and Thomas Lockwood of Salem, Ore., and Kristi Allison and Charlie Floyd of Lugoff; brother, Carl Kinsey, Jr. of West Columbia; sister, Alice Melrose Smith of Townesville, S.C.; 9 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Debra Joan Branham; and sister, Mary Irene Chewning.
