COLUMBIA – Graveside service for Alice Smith Davis, 93, will be held Thursday 2:00 p.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church Cemetery, Chapin. The family will receive friends Wednesday 5-7 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. Mrs. Davis, wife of the late Otto Claud Davis Sr., died Monday, May 6, 2013. Born in Georgetown, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Henry Spartman and Minnie Graham Smith. She enjoyed growing flowers. Surviving are her children, Alice Davis Cook (Charlie J.) of Chapin, Sandra Davis Martinez (Johnny) of Columbia, Otto Davis Jr. (Brenda) of Columbia, Henry Davis (Carolyn) of Lugoff, and Gary Davis (Ann) of Lugoff; sisters, Golie West and Virgie Vanderpol; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 7 great great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by siblings, Bertie Smith, Sadie Howard, Ellen Wallace, Alma Kerns and Spartman Smith; daughter-in-law, Ann Mitchell Davis; and son-in-law, Charlie Cook. The family would like to extend thanks to the good health care providers of Unihealth of Blythewood for the love and care shown to Mrs. Davis during her stay there.
