LUGOFF-Funeral service for Mattie Mae Purvis Stewart, 80, will be held Sunday at 5:00 p.m. at Harmony Baptist Church, 998 Tookiedoo Lane, Elgin, S.C. with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Dan Griffin will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. Memorials may be made to Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery Fund. Mrs. Stewart died Thursday, April 2, 2009. Born in Meridian, Miss., she was the daughter of the late James Suttles and Charley Lois Ridgon Purvis. She retired from Pontiac Factory Outlet. She was a member of Harmony Baptist Church and the Friendship Sunday School Class. Mrs. Stewart enjoyed gardening and playing Canasta with her close friends. Surviving are her husband of 30 years, Billy Bruce Stewart; daughter and son-in-law, Linda Lee and Bill Kelly of Lugoff; grandchildren, William B. LeGrand and Summer Lee (Jay) Morgan; great-grandchildren, Gauge Bridges Morgan and Granger Lyle Morgan; sister, Ruth and Rita of Okeechobee, Fla.; brothers, Bobby, Grady, and Phillip of Okeechobee, Fla., and Flynn of Smithfield, Tenn.; and a special friend, Lois Reed. She was predeceased by brother, James Purvis, Jr.
