Obituary of Edward E. Arrington
LUGOFF-Funeral service for Edward E. Arrington, Sr., 89, will be held Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. at Lake View Baptist Church, Camden, with burial to follow in Quaker Cemetery. Rev. Hugh McKinney will officiate. The family will receive friends Tuesday 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Lake View Baptist Church.
Mr. Arrington, husband of the late Dorothy Smith Arrington, died Sunday, April 19, 2009. Born in Haywood County, N.C., he was a son of the late William Rufus and Belle Smathers Arrington. He served in the United States Army and was a WW II veteran. He retired from the Kershaw County Detention Center where he was the Administrator.
Mr. Arrington was a member of the American Legion Post 17, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Association, Masonic Lodge 29, and a Jamil Shriner. He enjoyed gardening and was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church.
Surviving are his son, Edward E. Arrington, Jr. and his wife, Debbie of Camden; sister, Velda Holden and her husband, Charles of Lake Junaluska; grandchildren, Charles “Chip” Arrington and his wife, Regina of Lugoff and Elizabeth Belk and her husband, Jason of Camden; and great-grandchildren, Haylee Arrington, Hope King, Heather King, Garrett Arrington, and Riley Belk. He was predeceased by brothers, William Guy Arrington, Arthur Odell Arrington, Carl Everett Arrington, Lowell Rufus Arrington, Larry Cecil Arrington, Samuel Maurice Arrington and Roy Elden Arrington; and sister, Geneva Kathleen Rathbone.
