CASSATT-Funeral service for Grayson M. Tidwell, 71, will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Beaverdam Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Steve Leigh will officiate. The family will receive friends Monday 5-7 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. Memorials may be made to Beaverdam Baptist Church. Mr. Tidwell died Friday, May 8, 2009. Born in Cassatt, he was a son of the late Lee Benjamin and Lottie McKiver Hyatt Tidwell. He retired from DuPont and was a member of Beaverdam Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, trading cars and gardening. Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Berta Mae Humphries Tidwell; son, Wayne (Gena) Tidwell of Lugoff; daughters, Barbara Clyburn of Lugoff, and Cathy T. (Jerry) Davis; sisters, Elizabeth Arrants of Bishopville, Avie Cockrell of Camden, and Zulee Pebbles of Florence; six grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by brothers, Paul Tidwell and Harold Tidwell; and sister, Catherine Carraway.
