ELGIN - Funeral service for Carland Ronny Cox, 45, will be held Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Baptist Church with burial to follow in Hardshell Cemetery. Rev. Dr. Charles Everett will officiate. The family will receive friends Monday 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. Mr. Cox died Saturday, July 18, 2009. Born in Columbia, he was a son of Edie Rue Lowery Cox Collins and the late Carland Enoch Cox. He was a 1987 graduate of Spring Valley High School. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. Mr. Cox was a Disaster Relief Volunteer. He enjoyed cars, drag racing, and restoring cars. He loved gardening, family gatherings and spending time playing with his granddaughter, Isabella. Surviving are his wife of 26 years, Julia D. Cox; mother of Elgin; daughters, Kimberly Kelley and her husband, Stephen, Michelle Cox, and Amber Cox; sisters, Patricia Neumann and Wendy Wolfe; brother, Danny Cox; granddaughter, Isabella Marie Kelley; niece, Christal Connolly; and nephews, Brandon Cox, Joshua Cox, Phillip Price, and Danny Cox, Jr. He was predeceased by a step-father, Jim W. Collins.
