Obituary of Delma T. Dukes
CAMDEN - Funeral service for Delma Tisdale Dukes, 68, will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff, with burial to follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Rev. Burch Kelly will officiate. The family will receive friends Tuesday 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. Memorial may be made to the American Cancer Society, 647 Lachicotte Road, Lugoff, S.C. 29078.
Mrs. Dukes, wife of the late David L. Dukes, died Saturday, July 18, 2009. Born in Kingstree, she was a daughter of the late Nathan and Eloise Tisdale. She enjoyed fishing, canning, cooking, and caring for others. She loved her family and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Surviving are her children, Glenda D. Butler and her husband, Ben of Elgin, David L. Dukes II and his fiancée, Terry Wardlaw of Camden, Pamela D. Thompson and her husband, Cam of Charleston; and Nathan Lee Dukes and his wife, Wubet Shewaferaw of Hawaii; brothers, Fred Tisdale of Kingstree, and Pete Phipps of Kingstree; sisters, Allene Garner of Manning, and Bertha Mae Welch of Manning; grandchildren, Rebecca D. Jackson, David L. Dukes, III, Hunter Butler and Chad Butler; and great-grandchildren, Savannah, Chance and Logan. She was predeceased by a son, Richard Nathan Dukes.
