Obituary of Bill Ragan
ELGIN-Funeral service with military honors for William Edward “Bill” Ragan, 71, will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Blaney Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Philip Blankenship will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service in the Family Life Center. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Foundation or the American Cancer Society, 647 Lachicotte Road, Lugoff, S.C. 29078.
Mr. Ragan, husband of the late Mary Katherine Armstrong Ragan, died Wednesday, July 29, 2009. Born in Albia, Iowa, he was a son of Blair Ragan and the late Ollie Kellogg Ragan. He retired from the United States Army after serving 20 years. He served two tours in Vietnam.
Mr. Ragan Enjoyed wood working and electronics. He was a member of Blaney Baptist Church.
Surviving are his daughters, Sherry Ray of Elgin, and Rebecca “Becky” South and her husband, Rodney of Lugoff; father of Albia, Iowa; brothers, Richard Ragan and Raymond Ragan; sisters, Rita Bell and Anna Graham; 5 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Michael Ragan.
