COLUMBIA-Funeral Service for Sarah Tolbert Coley, 88, will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Crescent Hill Baptist Church, 2659 Two Notch Road, Columbia, S.C. 29204, with burial to follow in Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens. Rev. Ron LaFlam, Rev. George Cashwell, and Rev. Gerry Hacker will officiate. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. Memorials may be made to the Columbia Baptist Temple, 1502 Faraway Drive, Columbia, S.C., the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, 3608 Landmark Drive # C, Columbia, S.C. 29204-4037, or the Local March Of Dimes. Mrs.Coley, wife of the late Horace C. Coley, died August 19, 2009. Born in Kershaw, S.C., she was a daughter of the late W.T. and Amy Jones Tolbert. After retiring from DHEC in 1991, Mrs. Coley read through the Bible 32 times. She was a member of the Columbia Baptist Temple where she taught Sunday School for 28 years. She enjoyed gardening and sports and was an avid Gamecock fan. Surviving are her sons, David (Nancy) Coley of Candler, N.C., Roy (Kathy) Coley of Elgin, and Joe (Sandy) Coley of Columbia; daughters, Judy (Woody) Brazell of Elgin, Irene Coley of James Island,, and Bonnie (Ronnie) Hoover of Lexington; daughter-in-law, Bootsie Coley of North Augusta; sister, Ervileen Pridgen of Charlotte, N.C.; 13 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Jack Coley; sisters, Alta Stewart, Nova Taylor, Cleo Brazell, Alie Kilhaug; and brothers, Craig Talbert, William Tolbert Sr., and Alsey Tolbert.
