LUGOFF – Funeral service for Mary Frances Dowey Brown, 85, will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Pine Grove Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. Doug Whitfield and the Rev. Todd Horton will officiate. The family will receive friends Saturday 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Pine Grove Baptist Church Puppet Ministry or KershawHealth Hospice. Mrs. Brown, wife of the late Glenn L. Brown, died Friday, May 17, 2013. Born in Lugoff, she was a daughter of the late Ernest P. and Beulah Peake Dowey. She was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church and enjoyed working with flowers. Surviving are her sisters, Dorothy Catoe (Sidney), Ernestine Ray (Claude), and Linda Rhodus (Bill); brothers, Raymond Dowey, Ronald Dowey (Mary), Sam Dowey and Lester Dowey; and numerous nieces and nephews who she loved liked her own children. She was predeceased by sisters, Sara Ray, Reola Campbell and Ophelia Moak; and brothers, Bobby Dowey and David Dowey Sr.
