ELGIN - A memorial service for Owens Ernest Davis, Sr., 81, will be held Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. Rev. Daniel Flessas will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service. Memorials may be made to National Alzheimer’s Foundation. Mr. Davis died Wednesday, October 21, 2009. Born in Columbia, he was a son of the late Derrick Shade and Carrie Outlaw Davis. He owned and operated Circle D Company (a television repair store) in Elgin for many years. He was a member of Rowan Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed farming and was a craftsman handling all his family’s needs. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Olie Catherine Baldwin Davis; children, Denise Davis Greene of Lugoff, Owens E. Davis Jr. of Elgin, David D. (Dorothy) Davis of Dixie, Ga., Cathy D. (Mike) Lynch of Lugoff, Keith M. (Gail) Davis of Ridgeway, Melanie D. (Art) Boyer of Eastover; brother, Cecil Davis of Columbia; 13 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by siblings, Marceline McLean, Francis Davis, and Bonnie D. Walker; and son-in-law, Chip Greene.
