Alex Bierregaard was born and raised in Argentina, son of Alex Bierregaard of Bergen, Norway and Lia Urtizberea Bierregaard of Resistencia, Argentina, both of whom preceded him in death. Alex received a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering from the Instittuto Technologico de Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1971, had a career in Management and later software development in Argentina. He continued with software development in the U.S. before switching career fields in his later years, working as a Real Estate Broker in North Carolina and Tax Consultant in both North and South Carolina. Alex and his wife settled in Lugoff, S.C. in 2006. He is survived by his wife, Margaret A. Bierregaard; daughter, Geraldine Karen Bierregaard-Hoogerdijk ; son-in-law, Sjoerd Hoogerdijk; grand-daughter, Tessa in Holland; son, Alejandro Roy Bierregaard in Argentina; brother, Guillermo Bierregaard and sister Daya Bierregaard-Estrada, along with numerous nieces and nephews in Argentina; step-daughter, Natalie Mecom and her husband, Rob Mecom and grand-children, John Michael and Miranda in Oklahoma. A memorial service will be held at Spring Valley PH Church, 107 Roseberry Lane, Columbia, S.C. 29223 on Saturday, 12 December 2009 at 5:00 p.m. with Pastor Steve Lewis officiating.
