Obituary of Ernest W. Coker
LUGOFF-Funeral service with military honors for Ernest W. Coker, Sr., 80, will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Pine Grove Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Doug Whitfield will officiate. The family will receive friends Thursday 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Gideon’s International.
Mr. Coker, husband of the late Mary Eloise Dinkins Coker, died Tuesday, December 15, 2009. Born in Blaney, he was a son of the late Robert Marion and Lucille Morgan Coker. He retired from the United States Air Force after 20 years of service. He formerly owned Coker’s Texaco in Lugoff and owned and operated Coker’s Used Cars before retiring in 2002. He served on the Kershaw County School Board.
Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Patty and Wayne Branham of Lugoff; son and daughter-in-law, Ernest W. “Ernie” Coker Jr. and Debbie of Lugoff; grandchildren, Chris (Jennifer) Branham, Nicki (Todd) Goff, Matthew (Layla) Coker, Les (Linsie) Lee, Joshua (Lauren) Coker, Brittany Price, and Abigail Coker; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a grandson, Allan Branham; brothers, John Coker, Willard Coker, Marion Coker, and Edward Coker; and a sister, Nanny Ross.
