KERSHAW-Funeral service for John Elmer Hayes, 80, will be held Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Refuge Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Rev.Timmy Broughton will officiate. The family will receive friends Friday 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. Memorials may be made to Refuge Baptist Church Building Fund. Mr. Hayes, husband of the late Mrs. Nellie Hearon Hayes died Wednesday, January 27, 2010. Born in Kershaw County, he was a son of the late Elmer and Mae Baker Hayes. He was in construction and home remodeling business. Mr. Hayes enjoyed the outdoors as well as fishing. He was a member of Refuge Baptist Church. Surviving are a son Mickey Hayes (Robin) of Kershaw; and a brother, Ronnie Hayes (Molly) of Kershaw; and grandchildren, Sheldon Hayes and Allison Hayes. He was predeceased by a son, Ricky Hayes; and sister, Susie Mae Bass.
